Funded pensions a mad idea whose time has come
Article Abstract:
State-sponsored investment funds are very likely to become increasingly common as more and more countries find it difficult to fund the demands of an ageing population. Funded pension schemes have only a very limited presence in large parts of continental Europe, and in the UK only around half the population is a member of one. Against this background, a form of funded scheme offered by the state and supported by compulsory saving seems the best way forward.

Who can we trust with our gold?
Article Abstract:
The public image of personal pensions has been damaged recently by the large amounts of compensation which life assurance companies have been forced to award to people wrongly advised to leave company pension schemes. Many people are now very confused about whether it is advisable to invest in a personal pension. However, it cannot be wrong to save as much as possible prior to retirement, ensuring that the full tax allowance is used.
