Lolita: minor masterpiece or a scandal over a minor?
Article Abstract:
It is extremely frustrating to have to accept that the film 'Lolita' may never be released in the US, according to Adrian Lyne, the film's director. This film tells of a sexual relationship between a 12-year-old girl and a middle-aged man, and is adapted from Vladimir Nabokov's 1955 novel. Lyne's previous films have been very popular with US film studios, but all have rejected 'Lolita' because of its very sensitive subject matter. He is extremely interested in the destructive power of sexual obsession, almost to the point of being obsessed himself.

Much more Mr Nice Guy
Article Abstract:
Scriptwriter-director Quentin Tarantino greatly admires Clint Eastwood, and uses Eastwood as a model for his entire business activity. He feels that Hollywood film studios are now investing far too much in production and marketing. His latest film, 'Jackie Brown,' cost $12 million, whereas the average price of a studio film is now more than $50 million. He has gained a strong reputation as an independent filmmaker, but does intend to focus on big budget action films shortly.

Not just one off the assembly line
Article Abstract:
Film audiences seem to demand constant excitement nowadays, according to filmmaker Irvin Kershner. He regards film as an art, and this means that there are very few film projects with which he wishes to be associated. He has had to compromise his values in order to gain employment, and in Feb 1998 will begin work on 'Inferno,' his first feature film since the early 1990s. He has been successful in many different film formats, but remains very underrated.
