Best-selling novels can sell over 300,000 copies but the average sale of a new hardback novel is about 600 in 1992. An unknown novel might sell 2,000 copies in a few months but in video format it would sell about 1,000 a week. Hit films sell over 200,000 copies in a few months. The Disney Christmas release, Cinderella, sold over 450,000. Gross annual book sales are about 1.4 billion pounds sterling, sell-through video turnover was 375 million pounds sterling in 1992. Publishers launch few campaigns or promotions.

Article Abstract:
Break-ins and theft are part of everyday life at the Teyfant Primary School in Bristol, which also has problems with social problems in its pupils. There were 16 burglaries at the school from Apr 1991, costing 17,582 pounds sterling. At the same time its toilet blocks were condemned by the Health Department of the City Council and suspicion of abuse to one of its pupils had been noted.
