Lord Boyd-Carpenter
Article Abstract:
Politician John Boyd-Carpenter gained a degree in History and a Diploma in Economics from Oxford University, England. He read for the Bar, and in 1940 joined the Scots Guards. He won the safe Conservative seat of Kingston, England, in the 1945 general election, holding this seat until he was elevated to the peerage in 1972. His ministerial career covered domestic social affairs and economic matters, and included being Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Paymaster-General.

Lord Granville of Eye
Article Abstract:
Politician Edgar Granville joined the Australian Light Horse at the outbreak of the first world war. After the war, he formed his own manufacturing business, and later obtained directorships in the pharmaceutical and armaments industries. He became Liberal MP for Eye, England, in 1929. He was Honorary Secretary of the Liberal Agricultural Group between 1929 and 1931, and was then Parliamentary Private Secretary to Home Secretary Sir Herbert Samuel.
