This man is not fit to be hanged
Article Abstract:
It is sometimes necessary to be very direct, according to Radio 4 Controller James Boyle. He has attracted considerable controversy with his wide-reaching changes, and admits that programme-makers were put under great pressure when making some of Radio 4's new shows. However, he was confident that Radio 4 would not lose listeners, particularly as great care was taken to inform listeners about the changes in advance. He emphasizes that he takes great care to take account of listeners' views.

Article Abstract:
It is possible to learn a great deal from studying small details, according to DJ John Peel, who is now presenting Radio 4's 'Home Truths' programme, in which listeners are encouraged to reveal stories of their domestic lives. He prefers interviewing ordinary people to interviewing celebrities, and manages to create a strong sense of inclusion. His accessibility has turned him into a broadcasting institution, and he is shortly to receive an OBE.
