Who dares upstage a genius?
Article Abstract:
The new entrance to the National Theatre in London, England, designed by architects Alan Stanton and Paul Williams, has a negative impact on the architectural composition of the building, according to Sir Denys Lasdun, the building's original architect. He is particularly concerned about the decision by Stanton and Williams to move the bookshop to either side of the entrance. He feels that the bookshop now obstructs the flow of people. He dismisses claims by Stanton and Williams that they greatly admire his work.

The new Rose blooms at last
Article Abstract:
A high-tech sound and light show is being staged at the site of the Rose Theatre, the first Elizabethan playhouse in London, England. This show, which presents the history of the Rose and its excavations, is designed to raise money for restoration work involving stabilizing the marshy soil in which the theatre's foundations are located and preserving the timber parts. It will never be possible to fully excavate the site, as it lies under listed buildings that are protected.
