Make your own entertainment
Article Abstract:
People who stop watching television can find that they double their free time, according to David Burke, UK representative of the anti-television pressure group White Dot. This group is particularly seeking publicity in connection with International TV Turnoff Week. Burke did not have particularly strong feelings about television before he stopped watching it, but now feels very strongly that television has a negative influence. He feels that abandoning watching television moves people away from the idea that they have to be entertained all the time.

Channel ferry gets that sinking feeling
Article Abstract:
P&O Stena is planning to abandon its ferry service between Newhaven, England, and Dieppe, France. This service has been running since 1825, and used to attract 1 million passengers a year. However, passenger numbers have now fallen to fewer than 700,000 a year, and the company claims that the service is now running at a substantial loss. The opening of the Channel tunnel has already forced ferry companies to abandon services on a number of other routes.
