'Martial arts movies are in my blood.'
Article Abstract:
Filmmaker Ang Lee feels that he has extensive experience of martial arts films. However, he admits that he is finding it hard to reproduce the violence of martial arts films for the samurai film 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.' He feels that his film 'Ride With the Devil,' which opened the 1999 London Film Festival, represents a significant departure from the domestic dramas with which he is generally associated. He recalls that, after 'Sense and Sensibility,' he wanted to do a very rough film.

Faking it for the cameras
Article Abstract:
The fake documentary format is beginning to feel rather overdone, according to documentary-maker Kevin Allen. He emphasizes that he moved away from the fake documentary approach with Scottish comedy 'The Big Tease,' in which a BBC camera crew is shown following a hairdresser to the Platinum Scissors hairdressing championships in Los Angeles, CA. He indicates that this film was framed as a documentary, but in terms of its look was never presented as anything but a film.

You got the balls, you got the job
Article Abstract:
Evil people do not always necessarily get punished, according to writer-director Neil LaBute. This is seen in his film 'In The Company of Men,' in which two marketing men take revenge on women by seducing and abandoning a vulnerable deaf secretary. The film has attracted very strong reactions, particularly for the role played by LaBute's actor friend Aaron Eckhart. LaBute is accustomed to seeing his work criticized, but feels that he is actually portraying reality.
