Memoirs of an inadvertent spy
Article Abstract:
It is important to give attention to the history of the present, according to historian Timothy Garton Ash. He feels that efforts should be made to write history now, and that there is a need to be more sophisticated in descriptions of what people are doing when they reminisce. He lived in East Germany as a research student from 1979, and attracted the attention of the secret services. He has now published a book concerning the file kept on him by the secret services.

Harmonizing at the moon
Article Abstract:
Poet Laureate Ted Hughes frequently writes about the natural world, using it as a source of inspiration for his vivid imagination. This comes over particularly strongly at his rare public readings, where his presence seems to elementalize his poetry. He has a powerful, resonant voice, but appears to be shy when faced with an audience, keen to protect his inner self.
