Mexico's warrior peasants arm for revolt
Article Abstract:
There is likely to soon be a peasant uprising in the Mexican state of Guerrero which will be even more violent than the uprising which took place in the state of Chiapas in 1994. Guerrero's peasants have a long-standing reputation as warrior people, and have already clashed with paramilitary policemen. The situation is becoming extremely tense as they increasingly object to the rule of state governor Ruben Figueroa.

Mexico's economy heads for meltdown
Article Abstract:
Mexico continues to face severe economic problems, and relies heavily on outside assistance. It must cope with $57 billion a year in foreign-debt repayments, and by the end of 1995 will still owe a total foreign debt of around $170 billion. Many observers are now expressing concern that the government's economic policy seems to be based largely on borrowing.
