Michael Ffinch
Article Abstract:
Poet, writer and teacher Michael Ffinch undertook his National Service with the Royal Norfolks before reading English at St Edmund Hall, Oxford, England. He established his own school in Hollingbourne, England, and after the closure of this school became a teacher at St Richard of Chichester School in Camden Town, London, England. He developed a close partnership with composer Francis Shaw during this time. He taught at a number of other schools before moving to Kendal, England, and becoming librarian and English teacher at Sedbergh School.

Advice on planting hanging baskets is presented. With most containers, it is best to have more flowering plants than foliage ones. There must be a large proportion of plants that spread well.

Experiences of training yew trees to grow into the shape of an arch are presented. Yews are very tough and can grow quite rapidly into an attractive shape.
