EC ministers grapple with problems of life after death
Article Abstract:
EC foreign ministers met in Hertfordshire, England in Sep 1992 to discuss plans if the French referendum on Maastricht produced a 'no' vote. A declaration would be issued explaining the foundations of European integration. Options include chaos, reviving parts of the treaty or carrying on with integration regardless. Monetary union is the main problem. Netherlands minister Mr Van den Broek said that if unity plans were not settled, plans for extension of the EC could be shelved.

EU pledges fairer shares for all in its aid effort
Article Abstract:
The European Commission is aware that it must take a new approach to the administration of development aid if it is to secure continued contributions from member states. Attention is now being focused on ways of ensuring that aid goes to the poorest countries and that it is managed more effectively. However, it will take a considerable time for the current dispute over the European Development Fund to be resolved.
