Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Article Abstract:
Agnes Bojaxhiu, the nun who became known as Mother Teresa of Calcutta, was born in Macedonia, but became an Indian citizen in 1948. She founded the Missionaries of Charity order, which covered 3,000 nuns and 400 brothers in 87 countries. Her work with the poor and destitute in the slums of 160 cities first came to international attention in 1970 through the BBC film 'Something Beautiful for God.' She was a very saintly person, and could eventually be canonized.

Dame Elizabeth Sumner
Article Abstract:
Nun Elizabeth Sumner entered Stanbrook Abbey, near Worcester, England, in 1934. She made her solemn vows in 1939, and then devoted many years to work and prayer. She served as infirmarian between 1943 and 1948, and also made habits for the community and wove liturgical vestments. In Aug 1953, she became the 23rd abbess since the community's foundation. She influenced many others with her wisdom, gentleness and great humility.

Mother Margaret Mary McFarlin
Article Abstract:
Nun and teacher Margaret McFarlin was born in Liverpool, England, in 1905. She studied English Literature at Liverpool University and gained the Diploma of Education in 1928. She entered the Congregation of the Religious of the Assumption in 1930.
