Profit from going into the red
Article Abstract:
Prices on Hong Kong's stock exchange have reached extremely high levels. Local investors do not seem to share the concerns of their British or US counterparts about the possible impact on economic growth in Hong Kong of the transfer to Chinese sovereignty. There is particular interest in the stocks of Chinese state-owned companies which are being partially floated on the Hong Kong exchange. These stocks are gaining value as a result of the assumption that the Chinese government may introduce extra assets at a later stage.

A great disappearing act
Article Abstract:
Most people in the UK are not aware of the interest rate they are receiving on their savings. In many cases, they keep their savings in building society or bank accounts which have been superseded by a new version which pays a higher rate of interest or has better conditions. Furthermore, many accounts have become obsolete as a result of the recent spate of demutualisations and mergers among banks and building societies. In some cases, building societies and banks now automatically transfer savings into new accounts.

The rewards of a little bit of risk
Article Abstract:
Corporate bonds are becoming increasingly regarded by many investors as offering higher yields than deposits or government-backed bonds but being safer than equities. Experts believe that corporate bonds offer some additional protection when stock markets undertake extensive selling. Bond funds are mainly appropriate for people who wish their investment to produce an income instead of capital growth. There is a wide range of risk profiles among corporate bond unit trusts, as they hold different types of instrument.
