Never mind the Nerd, vote for Old Rustbucket
Article Abstract:
The UK Conservative party would face serious consequences if it were to elect William Hague as its leader, rather than Kenneth Clarke. Hague has made it clear that he would not be able to have in his Shadow Cabinet anyone who did not rule out the single European currency for a decade. In contrast, Clarke is prepared to work with people of all views, and therefore represents the best chance for the party to become unified again. Voting for Hague and a divided party brings the risk of reducing the party's grassroots support even further.

Mr Portillo should remember his rallying call: 'Who dares, wins.'
Article Abstract:
It seems unlikely that former UK Secretary of State for Defence Michael Portillo will wish to become a candidate in the by-election in Newark, England, even though the Conservative party has a good chance of winning this seat. Portillo is currently developing a positive image through his work on radio and television, and is ensuring that he is compared favourably with Conservative party leader William Hague. He will not stand in a by-election unless he is absolutely sure of winning that seat, and seems to be in no hurry to return to being an MP.
