The paper with one voice
Article Abstract:
The strongly conservative tone taken by the Daily Mail seems strangely out of touch with modern society in the UK. However, the newspaper, which is currently celebrating its centenary, remains in a strong position and is confident about its future. It maintains strong links with its readers, assuming shared concerns with them, and manages to hold this stance despite the fact that society is becoming more diverse. It is very strictly edited, and its staff strive constantly to stick to the objectively right way of working.

Lord of the nation's bad taste
Article Abstract:
Novelist and politician Jeffrey Archer has managed through patronage to reach a position in which he is highly respected by many people. This is a reflection of the poor state of national consciousness in the UK, as in fact he is unworthy of such a position. His novels are badly written and in poor taste, but he has still managed to gain a prominent place in the popular imagination.
