Sir Norman's fantasy of light
Article Abstract:
Hong Kong's new Chek Lap Kok airport, designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster, is as large as a city. It is able to receive 35 million passengers, and employs 70,000 people. Its capacity will rise to 87 million passengers a year by 2004. However, the building seems light and airy, and does not dwarf the passengers. Foster was keen to have a design that allows people to experience the pleasure and imagination of travel. Design features include glass floors and open chambers.

Meet the two Ronnies of furniture
Article Abstract:
Furniture designers Ron Arad and Ron Carter are both highly respected. They have very different ideas about style, but are very close intellectually, as design tends to be based on a core of common values. They come from very different backgrounds, but both value craft and workmanship. They are both now working on the design of a new stacking chair.
