Nato threatens 'nights of fire' as forces move to defend refugees
Article Abstract:
Nato has threatened to undertake extensive bombing of Yugoslavia, possibly even targeting President Slobodan Milosevic's palace in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, if the forced expulsion of ethnic Albanians from Kosovo, Yugoslavia, does not cease. Nato is sending 6,000 troops to assist refugees from Kosovo who are now in Albania, and it is widely believed that Nato may shift towards the use of ground troops inside Kosovo itself, at least to protect refugees still leaving the republic. US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has stated that Milosevic must withdraw all his forces from Kosovo.

The intrigues inside the tent that infuriated Nato
Article Abstract:
There has been a very tense atmosphere surrounding the negotiations aiming to end the conflict in Kosovo, Yugoslavia. Nato has stated that the Yugoslavs have not met the conditions of the recently agreed peace deal, while the Yugoslav negotiators have claimed that Nato's demands are not reasonable and that the only way to make progress is through a United Nations resolution. It appeared initially that it would be possible to reach an agreement, but Yugoslav negotiators subsequently refused to drop their demand for an end to Nato air strikes before further talks could take place.
