Nazis, child abusers, or just good, clean-living workers?
Article Abstract:
Police in Chile are preparing to take action against Chile's 'Dignity Colony.' This is a 35,000-acre ranch where around 300 people who regard themselves as Germans live. It was formed by Paul Schaefer, who worked as a medical orderly in Hitler's army and then took a group of German orphans to Chile. Human rights groups claim that the regime at the settlement is extremely oppressive, and some young people who have escaped from there report that group leaders use drugs to keep the residents under control. There are also allegations of child abuse and kidnapping.

He led the revolution. Has he got feet of clay?
Article Abstract:
The image of Sandinista National Liberation Front leader Daniel Ortega, who was once a public hero in Nicaragua, has been damaged by allegations of sexual abuse made by his stepdaughter. He was for many years able to win over ordinary Nicaraguans with his charisma, but he has been in opposition since 1990. He has regularly disrupted public life, and has even threatened to take up arms again, but most people do not take this seriously. It now seems unlikely that he will stand as a candidate in the next presidential elections.

Many new books were published to mark the date and the 17th anniversary of his death, two weeks eralier. In 1992 there were isolated incidents reminiscent of Fascism in Europe. In Spain Felipe Gonzales' Socialists became less popular and crime and drug abuse increased. About half of Spaniards in 1992 have not experienced life under Franco.
