Never give a bully a break
Article Abstract:
Many education authorities have no policy on bullying. The child welfare charity Kidscape found 76% children had suffered abuse. Heywood Community School, Rochadale, identified when bullying occurred and removed those times: before and after school and break times. Strategies in other schools include bully courts where bullying is discussed, bully lines where bullied pupils are befriended, and consultative forums to discuss and resolve problems with class teachers. Sheffield University is conducting a government research project on bullying.

The Captain Nemo of Bow
Article Abstract:
Gerald Harris constructed his own submarine from old oil drums and parts from an old Ford Cortina. Scrap electrical parts and ball bearings were provided by local people. Mr Harris, known as the Captain Nemo of Bow, gave up his job as a car mechanic to build his submarine, the Saucy Sue. Communication is by portable telephone with an extended aerial kept afloat by a rubber duck. Power comes from car batteries but as yet there is no periscope.
