Testing time for Europe
Article Abstract:
The year 2000 computer date change and the implementation of European monetary union will both have a significant impact on financial information technology (IT) systems. The IT industry and in-house developed software will have to supply systems able to cope with these developments which can be thoroughly tested before the implementation of European monetary union on Jan 1, 1999. This will be a significant challenge, and it is possible that IT resources will simply not stretch far enough. Compliance problems may seem minimal at first, but serious long-term difficulties could emerge.

The more things change, the more we stay the same
Article Abstract:
New technology designed to help companies respond more effectively to approaches made to them through their corporate Web sites is being made available in the UK. Brightware, for example, is offering a solution which aims to help companies cope with the problem of large volumes of incoming electronic mail from corporate Web pages. Push technology may play a key role in this sector, allowing individuals to select the material they really need to see and then have it delivered automatically.
