Norman Reddaway
Article Abstract:
Diplomat Norman Reddaway gain an open scholarship to Cambridge University, England, where he obtained a Double First in Modern Languages. He joined the Army as a private in 1939, leaving in 1945 as a lieutenant-colonel. He was appointed MBE in 1946. He served in the Allied Control Commission in Germany, and then joined the Foreign Service in the office of Under-Secretary of State Christopher Mayhew. He was involved in establishing the Information Research Dept, and was then posted to Ottowa, Canada, and Rome, Italy. He became Assistant Under-Secretary for Information and Cultural Affairs at the Foreign Office in 1970.

Doreen Ingrams
Article Abstract:
Doreen Ingrams was born in 1906 and started work as an actress before marrying Harold Ingrams, a colonial officer, and travelling with him to Mauritius and Aden. She wrote an account for the society and economy of Aden and later wrote 'A Time in Arabia' which dealt with her travels in the region. She also wrote about Palestine and helped promoted Arab-British understanding. She continued with her researches even when she was in her eighties. She dies in Jul 1997.

Israel Shahak
Article Abstract:
Writer, chemist and human rights activist Israel Shahak was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1933. He was imprisoned by the Nazis as a child and then emigrated to Palestine. He became very influential in the Israeli League for Human and Civil Rights.
