John Lloyd
Article Abstract:
Archaeologist John Lloyd studied English at Manchester University, England, in the 1960s. During this time, he worked as a student volunteer on the excavations of Professor Barri Jones. He established a publishing career with Cambridge University Press, but remained involved with excavations in his spare time. In 1972, he was requested by the Society for Libyan Studies to take over the excavations at Benghazi, Libya. He also worked in the Biferno valley in Italy, and in 1977 became a lecturer in the Dept of Ancient History at Sheffield University, England.

Brian Hope-Taylor
Article Abstract:
Archaeologist and artist Brian Hope-Taylor was born in 1923. He trained as an artist before serving in naval intelligence and joining the RAF in 1943. He was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London in 1950.

Helge Ingstad
Article Abstract:
Writer and historian Helge Ingstad was born in Meraker, Norway, in 1899. He practised as a barrister before becoming a fur-trapper in Arctic Canada. His first book was published in 1931.
