The Natural Law Party is putting up 312 candidates in the UK general election on April 9, 1992, 58 more than the Green Party. Its headquarters is at Mentmore Towers, a hunting lodge in Buckinghamshire. It is the political wing of the World Government of the Age of Enlightenment which is led by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the inventor of transcendental meditation and one-time adviser to the Beatles. Its manifesto promises lower taxes, herb growing in every town and use of the unemployed to manage important matters like housing and pollution.

Moss Side, Manchester, England has a population of 14,000 with 40% unemployed. There have been over 10 murders in two years, many shooting incidents and arrests for drugs. Drugs dealers operate in business-like fashion. The shopping centre is about 1/3 occupied and many pubs are boarded up. Local people hate the police and think of the riots of 1981 as the highlight of life. Teenager Benji Stanley, 14, was killed with a pump-action shotgun on Jan 02, 1993.

Angels no longer fear to tread
Article Abstract:
The recent government announcement that nurses will receive a guaranteed annual pay rise of only 1% has come at a time when morale among nurses is already very low. Some now feel that they have reached breaking point, and are considering strike action for the first time. They believe that the NHS can afford to give them a 3% rise, and feel that they are not being recognised for their extremely dedicated work.
