It is common for people to put false information on their CV, according to a survey undertaken by the Association of Search and Selection Consultants. Some people merely stretch the truth a little, possibly in order to conceal periods of unemployment, while others go much further, failing to reveal bankruptcy or convictions for fraud. A culture of embellishment seems to have emerged, and some observers fear that this can in turn lead to full-scale fraud.

Most British men are unable to dance properly, possibly because they feel inhibited. It has become increasingly common for men to take dancing lessons, especially if they feel bored with other forms of exercise, such as going to the gym.
