Nothing's so gripping as a good divorce, but we must hold back
Article Abstract:
The UK government's planned privacy legislation is extremely misguided, and is opposed both by those who favour privacy legislation and those who oppose it. The Labour party issued guarantees before it came to power that it would not restrict the press. However, it now appears that Article 8 of the Human Rights Convention, which guarantees privacy for the citizen against intrusion by the state and its quangos, also applies to intrusion by the media. This means that the Press Complaints Commission could risk being taken to court for failing to protect individuals against intrusion by the media.

In defence of Islamophobia
Article Abstract:
It can be argued that the Runnymede Trust is right to call for understanding and protection for the Muslim community in the UK. However, it is important to recognize that Muslims generally suffer discrimination on the grounds of race, rather than religion. It would be wrong for the government to agree to state support for Muslim schools, as this would pave the way for other groups to seek their own form of education. The best approach would be for the government to ban all religious worship and teaching in state schools.
