Now that's what they call music
Article Abstract:
Writer Hunter S. Thompson regards himself as a musician, and finds that music is a key element in the creative process. He is one of the writers and cartoonists who have selected their favourite music for EMI's Songbook series. Cartoonist Savage Pencil uses his musical choices to illustrate a narrative featuring Dead Duck, one of his old cartoon characters. He does not regard his CD, 'The AntiQuack,' as a definitive reflection of his musical character. The music selected by cartoonist Gilbert Shelton highlights his obsessions from an earlier era, including jazz and R&B.

Revolting middle age
Article Abstract:
Country music does not really exist any more, according to sculptor and playwright Terry Allen, who has been releasing albums since the mid-1970s. He believes that modern corporate culture has created a sense of deadness in music. The music of singer Johnny Dowd also shows a feeling of disillusion with contemporary country music. Dowd feels that there is a complete bonding of commerce and popular culture and of commerce and religion, with everything being driven by money.
