Article Abstract:
Latest theatre technology can be used to great effect, according to French-Canadian director Robert Lepage. He was unable to put on a performance of 'Elsinore,' which takes themes from 'Hamlet,' at the 1996 Edinburgh Festival because of a technical fault, and this led some critics to state that he relies too heavily on theatre technology. However, the production is now to undertake a tour of five towns in the UK, and Lepage is already planning another large project. He seems to use critical feedback as a constructive tool, but is firmly committed to gradualism, allowing productions to develop towards a state of perfection.

Choose theatre, get ecstatic
Article Abstract:
The growing diversity of society has led to morality becoming diverse too, according to writer Irvine Welsh. This view is reflected in 'You'll Have Had Your Hole,' his first proper stage play. He cooperated on this project with theatre director Ian Brown, who also feels that the play has a moral heart. Brown feels most attracted to material which deals with a specific problem, regardless of whether it will shock audiences or not. The play's characters have certain similarities with those seen in Welsh's novel 'Trainspotting.'
