On the Sierra Leone border, a human crisis unfolds. And Britain is nowhere to be seen
Article Abstract:

Five Britons are seized in Sierra Leone
Article Abstract:
Rebels in Sierra Leone have kidnapped five British soldiers seconded to the United Nations as part of the military observers' force that is monitoring the peace deal there. The soldiers were negotiating the release of children taken prisoner by the rebels. This is a very negative development for the peace process in Sierra Leone. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have condemned the rebels, who control three-quarters of Sierra Leone.

Rebels stripped and humiliated British officers
Article Abstract:
A joint British military and civilian team is seeking to negotiate the release of five British officers taken hostage by rebels in Sierra Leone. Two high-ranking rebel commanders have now been despatched to the village where a total of 34 captives are being held. The officers were seized while monitoring the release of a large number of child prisoners, an element of the peace agreement designed to end rebel activity in Sierra Leone.
