Only Ulster's own parties can break out of the maze
Article Abstract:
The UK government has shown considerable flexibility as it negotiates in advance of the resumption of peace talks in Northern Ireland. This has served to open lines of communication between the opposing sides, but does not constitute the beginnings of a settlement. It is now the responsibility of the parties involved to ensure that a settlement is achieved, aware that the consequences of not doing so would be very serious. It would not be fair to blame the UK government if the talks are not successful.

How Ulster marched into a new crisis
Article Abstract:
The decision by Orangemen to go ahead with their march through Portadown, Northern Ireland, has had a very negative impact on the peace process in Northern Ireland. It has strengthened support for Sinn Fein, as the UK government had warned, and could even in the long term threaten the preservation of the Union which the Orangemen themselves regard as so precious. By failing to waive their right to march, the Orangemen have lost an opportunity to significantly boost their own standing.
