Parents confused, Brussels baffled
Article Abstract:
The UK government's decision to respond to the ban on international trade in British beef products by refusing to cooperate with the European Union has meant that UK ministers have had to block European measures for which they originally campaigned. This stance is widely seen as being misguided, and even ministers admit that it will have little lasting effect. This comes at a time when the government is also having to deal with a scare over the safety of baby milk

Britain defeated again in battle to end beef ban
Article Abstract:
The European Union's standing veterinary committee has postponed a decision on whether to life the ban on beef products such as tallow and gelatine from the UK. European Union member states have also called on the UK to give more assurances that steps are being taken to eliminate contaminated beef. The UK must now put forward formal proposals for the selective slaughter of cattle if the ban on beef products is to be modified.
