Patricia Maxwell-Scott
Article Abstract:
Patricia Maxwell-Scott was the daughter of Major General Sir Walter Constable Maxwell-Scott, first and last baronet of Abbotsford. She was born in Ireland, but was educated at a convent in Kent, England. She was commissioned into the ATS during the second world war, and worked for a time in the interior decorating business in London, England, before returning to Abbotsford. After her father's death in 1954, she succeeded to the home of her great great great-grandfather Sir Walter Scott. She was very involved in local public work.

Baroness Lestor of Eccles
Article Abstract:
Nursery teacher and politician Joan Lestor gained a strong sense of the vulnerabilities of childhood at an early age. This was a driving force behind her constant campaigning on behalf of children. She studied for a diploma in sociology at London University, and was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Labour party between 1967 and 1982. She was MP for Eton and Slough between 1966 and 1983, and in Apr 1974 was given junior ministerial office in the Foreign Office.

Sir Patrick Lowry
Article Abstract:
Industrial relations manager Patrick Lowry was born in Leicester, England, in 1920. He became a statistics clerk for the Engineering Employers Federation in 1938, and studied economics after serving in the army during the second world war.
