Paying up in order to study hard
Article Abstract:
Would-be students at British universities may underestimate how much they will have to spend, and their parents tend to have to pay the price. Most students will not longer be eligible for grants and have to depend on loans and part-time work. Parents may have to fund their children at university, so they should assess the costs. Rent tends to cost more than students expect. Parents may find that paying their children small amounts and often is easier for the children since they are less likely to run out of money than if larger amounts are paid less frequently. Parents should respect their children's independent and allow them to handle their own money.

Insurance is always the best policy
Article Abstract:
Students may forget to take out insurance when they start university in Britain, but insurance is important. Parents can insure against a number of eventualities, including their children not completing the course. Students may also live in poorer areas where crime is a problem. Parents' insurance may cover children's possessions if the children return home in the vacations. There is competition among insurers for the student market. Endsleigh is an insurer that focuses on the needs of students, and is partly owned by the United Kingdom National Union of Students.

Help yourself to help others
Article Abstract:
There are around 545 organizations in the UK offering training in counselling people suffering from depression. Courses last a year or two less than psychotherapy courses, but it is actually very hard to differentiate between the two areas. Many people with depression prefer counselling to psychotherapy, as psychotherapy appears very intimidating. A full psychotherapy course takes six years, including an introductory year, and costs around 1,000 pounds sterling to 1,500 pounds sterling a year.
