Opening doors on a private drama
Article Abstract:
Much of what is commonly presumed about the causes of eating disorders is incorrect, according to Peggy Claude-Pierre, who had to devote a great deal of time to caring for her two daughter when they both suffered eating disorders. She feels that those suffering from eating disorders should be treated with great gentleness and love, allowing them to move away from their negative thoughts. A different insight into eating disorders is presented by Marya Hornbacher, who began to suffer an eating disorder after the collapse of her parents' marriage created negative feelings in her.

A trip to the sea with A S Neill can be worth more than a formal lesson
Article Abstract:
Summerhill is an experimental school in England which is threatened with effective closure if it does not meet government standards by spring 1998. The school was set up by A.S. Neill who believed in allowing children to learn when they wanted to do so, rather than forcing them. The children are allowed to make rules, and take this role seriously. There are many ex-pupils who have achieved success in conventional terms. The school is not subsidized and parents are not forced to send children there. The closure of the school would be a serious loss.
