Gays under pressure in Belgium's moral backlash
Article Abstract:
Recent revelations of extensive paedophile activity in Belgium have created a new moral climate in Belgium. This is now being reflected in a backlash against gays, especially male prostitutes. The latest scandal involves deputy prime minister Elio Di Rupo, who has admitted to using male prostitutes but denies that any have been under-age. Gays are now very concerned about the likely impact on them of a new emphasis on family values.

Report challenges EU's hidden deals
Article Abstract:
Unpublished behind-the-scenes agreements between European member states are very common, according to a report from European Union legal experts. Such deals contradict or reduce the impact of legislation which is passed in public, and are open to legal challenge in the European Court, which could make them meaningless. The report also brings into question the legality of many European directives.
