Article Abstract:
Alfred Owen Hughes Jarman meticulously researched the British warlord Arthur during his 22 years at University College, Cardiff, as Professor of Welsh. Jarman was President of the International Arthurian Society's British Branch during 1980-1983 and remained as Honorary President thereafter. He had been politically active while working as a lecturer at University College, Cardiff, after 1946, campaigning for Plaid Cymru. Jarman, a highly private man, died on October 26 1998.

J.E. Caerwyn Williams
Article Abstract:
Celtic scholar John Caerwyn Williams gained a degree in Latin from the University College of North Wales, Bangor, in 1933. He gained a degree in Welsh in 1934, and then studied at University College and Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, and at the United Theological College at Aberystwyth, Wales. He joined the Welsh Dept at Bangor in 1945, and was Professor from 1953 to 1965. He then became first Professor of Irish at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
