Professor Clifford Ballard
Article Abstract:
Orthodontist Clifford Ballard studied at the Royal Dental Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, and upon graduation began a 12-year period of teaching at the Royal Dental Hospital. He became a leading figure in the field of postgraduate orthodontics, and was also clinical assistant at St George's Hospital, where he had special responsibility for the Upper Respiratory Clinic. He travelled extensively, and taught in orthodontic departments in countries including Israel, Finland and Portugal.

Professor John Martin
Article Abstract:
Social scientist John Martin was greatly influenced in his professional interests by Richard Titmuss, who held the Chair of Social Administration at the London School of Economics. In 1959, he became Assistant Director of Research at the Institute of Criminology in Cambridge, England, and in 1967 took up a chair of Sociology and Social Administration at Southampton University. He gained great respect as a very patient teacher and for his willingness to take on many administrative tasks.
