Visualizing Success
Article Abstract:
A series of four filmstrips has been developed for use in schools. The goal was to show students that learning could be enjoyable, if they had the right attitudes. The filmstrips cover topics such as self image and homework habits. A second series concerns mastering basics, improving mental abilities, overcoming low grades, and hints to improve grades and prepare for tests. A third series covers self discipline, peer pressure and being 'teachable.' Programs are available on a trial basis at Pentagram Productions, P.O. Box 24524, Los Angeles, California 90024, telephone (213) 472-1004.

Put the stress on leadership
Article Abstract:
The case of John Walker, who sued his employer following two nervous breakdowns caused by the pressure of work, has prompted many companies to reassess how they take care of hard-working employees. It is widely acknowledged that some stress can be beneficial, but this case shows that increased pressure of work must be accompanied by greater help and guidance from the employer. Some companies still scorn communication and staff management skills, but this will leave them vulnerable to legal action from their staff.
