An isthmus tale
Article Abstract:
It can be both interesting and demanding to travel on the Tehuantepec railway line in Mexico. This line, which stretches from the Caribbean port of Coatzacoalcos to Salina Cruz on the Pacific, was constructed in the 1890s, and there are still signs of the original fittings at the station in Coatzacoalcos. The 302 km journey is scheduled to take nine hours, but delays are common. The line is used by many local people along its route, as road travel is difficult.
