Right wing hesitant as campaign finishes
Article Abstract:
The 'yes' campaign for the whites-only referendum on democratic reform closed on Mar 16, 1992 and the Conservative Party leading the 'no's' was hesitant. National Party expects a majority vote in favour of granting blacks equal political rights. The media has not been objective and political violence has increased. Nelson Mandela forecast a whites-only general election would result in civil war if the Conservative Party won. White voters are expected to vote 'yes' for moral reasons or from experience.
