Local council debts rival India's
Article Abstract:
There are extremely high levels of debt among local councils in the UK. Almost 10 billion pounds sterling is owed in total by 10 councils, while local councils as a whole owe almost 50 billion pounds sterling. The largest local council debt per head of population is found in Islington, London, England, while the largest overall debt is held by the local council in Glasgow, Scotland. At least 66 councils do not have any debt, but these are largely district councils providing services in a two-tier system with county councils.

MI5 was feuding with Mossad while known terrorists struck in London
Article Abstract:
There was considerable distrust between the Israeli and the UK secret services in the 1980s, according to an investigation by Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz. This meant that vital information about terrorist activity was not exchanged. Relations between the secret services became particularly strained in 1987, after the Israelis failed to warn the British about plans to assassinate Palestinian satirical cartoonist Nagy el-Ali el-Adami.
