Rosemary Rapaport

Violinist and teacher Rosemary Rapaport was born in St Albans, England, in 1918. She gained an Associated Board Scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in 1937, and in 1941 joined the Halle Orchestra. She later formed a partnership with Viennese pianist Else Cross.

Isaac Stern

Violinist Isaac Stern was born in Kreminiecz, Russia, in 1920. He began playing the violin at the age of eight, when he entered the San Francisco Conservatory. He later studied with Naoum Blinder, and made his concert debut at the age of 15.

Violinist Anne Macnaghten was born in Whitwick, England, in 1908. She went to the Leipzig Conservatoire at the age of 18, and in 1931 organized a series of concerts devoted to contemporary music.
