Rothermere: in a class of his own
Article Abstract:
The decision by Lord Rothermere, owner of the Daily Mail newspaper, to back the UK Labour party in the House of Lords seems to go against the political stance which his newspaper has traditionally held. However, Rothermere himself has been increasingly outspoken about the right-wing views of his newspaper over recent years, so his decision was not particularly surprising to those who know him well. He has been openly critical of Paul Dacre, the newspaper's editor, but this does not mean that the newspaper will now begin to support the Labour party.
