Rothschild dynasty plans global shake-up
Article Abstract:
The corporate finance operations of the Rothschild family in Paris, London, the rest of continental Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, North America, Australia and Latin America are to be coordinated by a new group investment banking committee. This is part of moves to ensure improved coordination of the worldwide banking operations of the family as the investment banking sector becomes increasingly competitive. A new company in London, England, NM Rothschild Corporate Finance, will use the new banking committee to liaise with rest of the family's operations.

Cautious Clarke woos middle class
Article Abstract:
The UK government's 1996 Budget includes a reduction of 1p in the basic rate of income tax, which will cost 1.25 billion pounds sterling in 1997. This will particularly benefit middle-income earners, the group of voters from which the Conservative party most needs to gain support. The Budget is generally cautious, with the chancellor bearing in mind the sensitive nature of the pre-election period. However, he did emphasise plans to reduce the basic rate of income tax to 20p eventually.
