Why was the press so supergun-shy?
Article Abstract:
The British media seems to give extensive coverage to minor scandals, but is unwilling to invest resources in uncovering widespread political corruption, as was the case in the arms to Iraq affair. It is only after the Scott inquiry into the affair, which has lasted three years, that ordinary people are now beginning to receive information about what really happened. Some observers are now questioning why the media did not ask searching questions when the scandal first came to light.
