Rudy Narayan

Lawyer Rudy Narayan was born in Guyana in 1938. He came to the UK at the age of 15. He served in the Royal Army Ordinance Corps as a sergeant, and then became a barrister, being called to the Bar in 1968. He showed great talent as an advocate from the very beginning, but suffered a considerable amount of racial discrimination. He fought many battles against the legal establishment, and became a community activist, establishing direct links with communities in places such as Manchester, England, and Bristol, England.

Pierre Klossowski

Novelist, essayist, painter and translator Pierre Klossowski was born in Paris, France, in 1905. He became secretary to Andre Gide at the age of 18, and began translating in 1930. His first philosophical essay was published in 1933.
