Run faster? It's all in the genes
Article Abstract:
Genetix is reviving computer technology developed by Alan Turing in the 1930s with its Gene Machine, a program that undertakes the tasks of an operating system and an application. It is extremely compact because it reuses large amounts of code, and will work on any hardware. Genetix believes that the technology will initially be used by manufacturers of embedded systems and smart cards. It has advantages for desktop PCs, but Genetix will not seek to compete directly with Intel or Microsoft.

Article Abstract:
Adobe, the second-largest desktop software company in the world, now achieves revenues of just under $1 billion a year. It has seen strong growth, particularly through the Pagemaker desktop publishing package and the Photoshop imaging software. It focuses on creating software that allows designers to design, rather than placing artificial restrictions on their creativity. Its latest product is InDesign, its response to QuarkXpress.
