Saul Chaplin
Article Abstract:
Composer, arranger and producer Saul Chaplin became a pianist with a Dixieland dance band after graduating from the NYU School of Commerce. He formed a partnership with Samm Cahn, and in 1939 they moved to Hollywood. They were signed as song-writers by Columbia, and wrote the music for a number of low-budget films. Chaplin moved to MGM in 1949, and in 1951 won his first Oscar for his work with Johnny Green on 'An American in Paris.'

Albert Hague
Article Abstract:
Composer and actor Albert Hague was born in Berlin, Germany, in 1920. He studied piano and composition with Arthur Perleberg and then at the Royal Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1942, and his first produced show was 'Reluctant Lady' in 1947.

James Bernard
Article Abstract:
Film composer and screenwriter James Bernard was born in India in 1925. He served in the RAF during the second world war and graduated from the Royal College of Music in 1949. He produced music for several radio dramas before moving on to films.
