Saying goodbye to the 20th century
Article Abstract:
Helmut Kohl, George Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev have returned to Berlin, Germany, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. In a discussion arranged by the Sunday newspaper Welt am Sonntag, they discussed what really happened on the night the Berlin Wall fell and in the following days and months. Gorbachev acknowledged that, for more than two months after the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the Soviet Union continued to consider all options. Bush and Kohl feel that there are no big secrets still to be revealed about these events, while Gorbachev states that there are probably still interesting things in the archives.

Brezhnev, Callaghan, Carter, Deng Xiaoping, Schmidt: where are they now?
Article Abstract:
It is possible to argue that Pope John Paul II is the greatest world leader of modern times. He combines intellectual consistency, human sympathy, straightforward goodness and concentrated strength in a way not seen in any other world leader in recent times. He is profoundly Polish, but looks even at Poland through his world experience, faith and mission. His message revolves around his insistence that every individual has great dignity and inalienable rights.
