Sean Crampton
Article Abstract:
Sculptor Sean Crampton studied silversmithing at the Vittoria Junior School of Art in Birmingham, England, from 1930 to 1933. He later attended the Central School of Art in Birmingham, and then worked on his own and at Fernand Leger's studio in Paris, France. He served in the Western Desert and in the Italian Campaign during the second world war, and lost a foot after treading on a mine. He was Professeur de Sculpture at the Anglo-French Art Centre in St John's Wood, London, England, from 1946 to 1950. He held 17 one-man shows in the West End over almost 40 years.

Professor Frank Pierce
Article Abstract:
Hispanic scholar Frank Pierce learnt Spanish from James Forneri at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. He studied Spanish at Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, graduating in 1939 with first class honours. He obtained a postgraduate studentship at Columbia University, and was an Assistant Lecturer at Liverpool University, England, from 1939 to 1940. He taught at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, during the second world war, and then moved permanently to Sheffield University, England.
